Summer Clothing Wish List.

Sunday, June 29, 2014

Now that it's summer I really want to add a few new pieces to my closet. Here are a few things Im lusting after.

I'm totally falling in love with the birkenstock trend, and these beauties are first on my list. I've tried them on and the fit like a glove because of the way they are shaped, and seem like they would be so comfortable.

Kimono love all the way. I've already purchased two-but am definitely seeking more.

I've never been a shorts person, even with Texas heat. Dresses on the other hand are a staple.

TopShop leggings are wonderful and I could really use a few more pairs. Ankle-length this time.

This skirt is perfect. Not too short. Flattering shape. Need.

As you can see, I'm not much into color-but I think I've at least found what style I like.
I hope you see something you would like for summer too.

get to know me.

Thursday, June 26, 2014
Since I've been posting for a few weeks now, I thought it's time for you to know a little something about me.

1. Are you named after anyone? Not at all. I've asked my Mom and apparently she just liked the name.
2. When was the last time you cried? I did shed a tear when I saw The Fault in Our Stars (great book & movie, btw) earlier this month. But I really can't remember the last time I truly cried.
3. Do you have kids? No.
4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself? definitely think so.
5. Do you use sarcasm a lot? I do use it. But not when it's inappropriate- I know my boundaries.
6. Will you ever bungee-jump? I would. It would have to be one of the real bungee-jumps though, like off a bridge or really high platform not one of those silly things at a carnival or amusement park. Go big or go home, right?
7. What’s your favorite cereal? Cherrios.
8. What’s the first thing you notice about people? Hair, most likely. I've worked in the beauty industry for many years now and can spot a bad color or cut from a mile away.
9. What is your eye colour? Technically hazel, but I've been told by many people that they are more gold.
10. Scary movie or happy endings? I like both. I love the adrenaline rush from scary movies, but of course I am still a female and who doesn't like happy ending?
11. Favorite smells? The rain, kerastase hair products, and the Leaves candle from bath and body works.
12. Summer or winter? Winter. I hate the heat. I love being pale, and summer is all about getting a tan. No, thanks.
13. Computer or television? Computer.
14. What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home? I went on a cruise a few years ago and we went to Jamaica.
15. Do you have any special talents? I don't think so? So sad.
16. Where were you born? Dallas, Texas.
17. What are your hobbies? I love to read, watch youtube, play with my dog, lounge around with my boyfriend and sleep.
18. Do you have any pets? Yes! She is my pride and joy. Her name is Millie. She's a three year old miniature schnauzer with an attitude.
19. Favorite movie? I've never been good at narrowing down my favorite movies, I have many that I really enjoy.
20. Do you have any siblings? Yes. One older brother and one younger sister.
21. What do you want to be when you grow up? Successful and happy. Whatever it takes to get there.

That's it. Hope you enjoyed!

New Tarte Blush | Captivating

Sunday, June 22, 2014

Blush, for me, is an everyday necessity. I just don't feel like myself without it. It brightens your complexion making you look healthier and more lively. I'm a huge fan of the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour blushes. I cannot begin to explain how much I love these products. They have the best pigmentation and stay on all day. I usually lean more towards brighter pink blushes but the newest shade is a much more natural coral-y color. Even though it feels unusual for me, I am really loving the outcome. It's the perfect summer time shade.

To apply, I use a large fluffy powder brush straight to the apples of my cheeks and blend out and upward.

The other colors I own are natural beauty, frisky, flush, glisten, and splendor.

The Lipstick Addict Tag

Thursday, June 19, 2014

Favorite Balm/Treatment?
EOS medicated lip balm in tangerine. I use this as my year round lip balm. The best thing about it
Best eye-catching red?
Sephora Cream Lip Stain- 01
This is a great matte lip stain. It last all day and dries so quickly. The only down fall of this product is that it comes in the form of a lip gloss with a standard sponge tip applicator which makes it very difficult to apply evenly
Best luxury & best drugstore?
Nars-Red Square & Rimmel Lasting Finish-107
Best MAC lipstick?
Ruby Woo.
The most disappointing?
my most disappointing lipstick is Honey Love by MAC. I love the color-it's my go-to nude, but I hate the formula. They claim it is matte but it by no means goes on matte. Its creamy but almost too creamy. It creases so badly and doesn't last very long at all.
Liner-yes or no?
Absolutely, yes. On most occasions at least.
Best gloss?
Never will I ever wear lip gloss. I just can't.
Something extra!
Fresh Sugar Lip Polish. This is the best lip scrub I have ever tried. It's just the right amount of exfoliation with the perfect amount of moisture.

Summer Nail Polishes

Thursday, June 12, 2014
Summer is just around the corner and everyone is desiring the perfect nail color. I have an ever growing nail polish collection and every season I still have the few colors that I always go back to, these are no exception. While these polishes aren't anything new-they are the perfect colors to kick start summer.

First off, we have Lux by Marc Jacobs. It is the perfect summer yellow. It goes on completely opaque with two to three coats and doesn't dry streaky. I usually am not able to wear yellow toned colors because I'm very yellow toned naturally and it always makes my skin look strange. I've found an exception to the rules.

The next one is an oldie but a goodie. I've been in love with this color for years now. Thank God OPI hasn't discontinued it as they are oh so known to do. This is A Grape Fit! It's a bright-but not neon purple. You can easily achieve a perfect appearance in one coat of this polish. It's what I'd like to think of a more sophisticated bright purple.

Oh, Essie. I love Essie polishes. I prefer them over any brand. This is Fifth Avenue. I am partial to anything red-especially when it's orangey red. There is no need for a second coat of this polish, it's so opaque. It goes on so smooth and flawless and looks great on everyone.

No Room for the Blues is a slightly pastel but still bright enough for summer perfect blue. Like the others, it goes on really well and doesn't necessarily need a second coat.

These are with two coats of polish and no top coat. So as you can see the colors are flawless and all go on so well. I will for sure be wearing all of these this summer and I hope you will too.

Bumble and bumble. | Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Line

Sunday, June 8, 2014

Bumble&bumble just released their newest line: Hairdresser's Invisible Oil.  The line offers a shampoo, conditioner, primer, and an oil. They claim the line will soften, silken, tame, de-frizz, detangle, and protect. The entire line is infused with six different oils. Grapeseed Oil, Safflower Seed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, Argan Oil, and Coconut Oil.

The shampoo is lightweight and leaves the hair feeling very clean. It is sulfate free so it's perfect the keratin and brazilian treatment users. I found that it doesn't leave the hair very soft after just the shampoo- conditioner is definitely needed. It has a nice, light smell. Unlike most sulfate free shampoos this one has no problem with sudsing up which I really prefer.

The conditioner is almost a whipped consistency- its's thick without being heavy or too creamy. It leaves the hair feeling soft but not being weighed down. A little goes a long way.

The primer is a pre-styler that helps detangle, de-frizz, tame flyaways. It also provides protection from heat-styling and UV damage and breakage. Apply this to damp or dry hair before styling. It's perfect for someone with dry, coarse or brittle hair.

The final product in the line is the oil (which has been around for a while now) which you can apply wet or dry sparingly. It helps tame flyaways and add softness and shine to your style. Even for someone who is anti-hair oil, like myself, this oil wasn't heavy and didn't leave me feeling like a grease ball. The only con for me personally was that it does leave your hands feeling quite oily.

The first time I tried these products I used nothing out side of this line and my hair was left feeling soft and smooth. It was free from frizz and even felt nice after flat ironing.
So all in all this is the perfect product family for someone who is looking for smooth, shiny, frizz-free hair but still wanting a lightweight product.

See you Thursday!

Skin Care
This is an amazing toner for skin that tends to have redness. It cleanses the skin without being abrasive. It has a very subtle smell and the smallest amount leaves you with wonderful results.
It's a serum that works like a glycolic peel with the advantages of being able to use it daily as well as it being hydrating. It helps with fine lines and general tightening of the skin. It's perfect for dry skin that tends to breakout. it helps rid the skin of the dry patches that tend to clog pores and cause breakouts.
This foundation is amazing! It's full coverage without feeling cakey. It has a dewy finish but can easily be mattified with a setting powder. It covers everything and gives the skin a natural glow.
Perfect for the days where you want minimal makeup but still feel the need for an even complexion. SPF 20 gives you a nice level of sun protection and it feels weightless on the skin.
This stuff covers ANYTHING! It doesn't accentuate dryness and you can use it anywhere on your face without it setting weird throughout the day.
Super long lasting and great matte finish. It's so much smoother than the Bobbi Brown gel liner which is what I was using before this. Doesn't flake off during the day.
So, so good. Matte, so it lasts for hours but without being drying on the lips. Color payoff is outstanding. They have a great color selection to choose from as well.
so easy to use! it's very blendable and looks very natural. I use it with an angled brush to create the perfect look for me.

Random
Comparable to sechevite. Super glossy finish and very quick drying.
Wide enough opening to fit any eye. Curls with ease!

Check back Sunday for my next update!

Most Used Palette: Urban Decay Naked Basics

Sunday, June 1, 2014
Almost everyone I know has this palette- and for good reason. The packaging is sturdy with a smooth, matte finish and has a great mirror within along with six eye shadows - one shimmer and five matte. The quality of Urban Decay's eye shadow is outstanding. Every color I've tried is very pigmented and has good lasting power. This palette is so simplistic and perfect for everyday use.
Venus is a very light, almost white, champagne color that is great as an inner eye hi light or to hi light under the eyebrow.

Foxy is a yellow toned matte shade that I love to use all over the lid on days that I don't want color but need to keep my eyeliner from creasing. It also is perfect for blending out everything.

W.O.S. is a pink toned matte color that gives the look a unique brightness that is perfect for those days that your eyes look tired.

Naked 2 is basically the best all over the lid color I have ever used. The color is just dark enough to warm up the eye area but still leave everything looking very light. You can't tell in the picture but I'm sure I'll be hitting pan any day with that shade.

Faint is the perfect matte dark brown eyeshadow. Its great for creating a more natural smokey eye. I also use it often for adding depth just below the bottom lashes.

And last but not least, Crave is a matte black eyeshadow. It's so easy to blend and it's very pigmented. Works great as an eyeliner.
